He answered, “Haven’t you read what David did when he and his companions were hungry?”

Matthew 12:3

We passionately believe in the transforming power and truth of God’s Word. While we are not experts nor theologians, we do know is that it is not enough to just read or hear His words. Rather, His Scripture is meant to be pondered, in some cases–wrestled with, and, most of all, lived out in our daily lives. If you are hungry to grow more authenticity and substance in your life and faith, then consider these opportunities to deliberate on His Word.

Unfolding God’s Word

How can we grow our faith if we do not know God’s Word? From the very inception of FBF, being in God’s Word–for those who wanted–was at the heart of building and growing faith within ourselves. To this day, His Word prunes, guides, grows, and disciplines the soul to become more aligned to His ways. There is no better practice to build faith than by being in His Word. Doing so together, as Proverbs 27:17 says, “Iron sharpens iron.…”, brings blessings and benefits that further enhance the study of His Word and the application of it to life itself.

Until this year, FBF has held small in-person weekly studies to facilitate being in God’s Word together. With the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, and the serious potential of it turning into the disease Covid-19, face-to-face meetings are strongly discouraged between different households. As a result, we are bringing our studies online and sharing them with those desiring to walk closer with God and others.

Our studies are not traditional in format as our hope is to inspire souls to draw closer to God in their daily lives. As such, our designated times allow people to get to know each other better and the lives that each leads. To encourage application of His Word to daily life, our study outlines are flexible and supportive of discussing topics and trials that can happen within each life. The studies ebb and flow as often God speaks through His Scripture to the very heart of issues that can confound or shackle the soul.

The unfolding of Your Words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.

Ruminating…

“Dear friends…I have written…them as reminders to stimulate you to wholesome thinking. I want you to recall the words spoken by the holy prophets and the command given by our Lord and Savior through your apostles.”

2 Peter 3:1-2

Ruminating is FBF’s blog. It is a spot where we will share stories, insights and thoughts to ponder about our outreaches and the lessons we are learning.

Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress. Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.

Washing My Windows

Most houses in life have windows. Sometimes the environment both inside and outside the house can affect the clarity by which you can see in and out of the windows that grace it. For many, it is chore to clean windows. Some do it every year; some do it more often; and some hardly ever wash their windows.

When life was going through one of its stages and changes for FBF’s founder, Michelle, she found herself washing the windows of their home. As the dirt and grime ran down her windows, though not fully noticeable until looking at the dirty water in the bucket, she realized the need to wash windows regularly might be a metaphor for life. That barely detectable layer of dust had quietly dulled the clarity of the windows without her even suspecting. It was then she decided to dig deeper into how other things might be clouding her heart or mind from what she needed to see. It was there, while washing her windows, that God nudged her to share her life’s story and writings with others.

So, in hopes of continuing to challenge and inspire faith, you are welcome to join her on her journey of being changed by the Word of God and His amazing grace.
